Nominator's project description
| Mary Fannett Wheeler is an internationally leading scientist in numerical analysis and scientific computing. In more than forty years of active research she has made substantial contributions to the numerics of partial differential equations and laid the basis for new research fields. Mary Fannett Wheeler has brought the whole area of numerics forward. This holds for numerical analysis as well as the simulation of subsurface flows for practically relevant applications. During her stay in Germany, she will focus on development of simulation approaches for groundwater flow and transport, on discretization methods like discontinous Galerkin, and methods and tools for high performance computing. |
